Puppies begin weaning at 3.5 weeks. A mixture of high quality puppy food along with a high quality milk replacer is given to the puppies slowly. It is very important at this time for the puppies to have the right nutrition for proper development. At 6 weeks they will be introduced to raw meat. It will be supplemented with each meal with quality kibble. Raw is going to be a great way for them to get a non- processed meal along with building their jaws and many other benefits that do not come with eating kibble. PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THE FOOD YOU BUY.
Most foods carry by-products and LOW quality meats and fats. Rule of thumb, companies do not sell high quality
ingredients at cheap prices. But, just because it is expensive doesn't mean its quality. There is no need to supplement a quality kibble. If it is quality it will have everything the puppy needs for proper growth.
Just research for yourself and know your ingredients and you won't have an issue.
I will start crate training at 7 weeks old. Crate training is very important. It helps the puppy learn how to deal with stress and also with house training. If you stick with it will help you out so much.
All puppies will be current with their deworming and vaccinations.
German Shepherds need a large yard. Keeping these dogs inside an apartment or somewhere that doesn't have a large yard for them to run doesn't work out. They are high energy. Even if you keep them inside they need somewhere where they can run at any given time during the day. They need exercise on a daily basis.
If you do not have a fenced in yard get a dog run that is at least 10x10. They will still need exercise besides that. DO NOT keep your puppy on a chain. As it grows the puppy will eventually get barrier frustration and become very aggressive and will be hard to work with.
Last, but defiantly not least. Take your puppy to obedience classes. It is so important. Most quality trainers will start some type of program with you at 8-10 weeks old. If they say no, I would tell you again, Do Research.
If you cannot afford obedience classes take your dog everywhere with you from the earliest age that you can. The more experiences the puppy has the more confident he/she will be.
My dogs may not be for everyone. I will refuse the sale if I feel the pup may not fit your situation. It is nothing personal but I would rather save you the time and money than returning my dog back (with no refund) to me either because there is no time for training, the yard was too small, ect...... My dogs do require dedication and commitment. In the even I do refuse is in the best interest of the pup and buyer. I do not sell my dogs to just anyone. If you/the buyer can give this puppy the dedication & commitment
then this WILL be the best dog you have ever had. Regardless of what you are purchasing this pup for. Just keep that in mind.
